Coxing
Our club began with three dedicated coxes; Rhoda, Liv and Nikki. They worked tirelessly at weekends to make sure all the new club members got out on the water.
During Covid Nikki began training up new coxes with training sessions and when we could get back on the water anyone who fancied trying coxing out could have a go.
Since ARC was founded in 2020 we have had 12 coxes qualify. We have a cox-in-training programme and any club member who is interested will be supported to the degree they wish to develop.
Cox Programme
We currently have coxes in training (CiT) at various stages. CiT have opportunities to cox rows with a competent cox in the boat. This offers regular practice time to gain the skills and experience necessary to get signed off.
We also go at the speed that CiT are happy to progress to ensure a sense of confidence and comfort.
Race Coxing
Several coxes have gone on to become race coxes taking part in home and away races and regatta helping them gain experience. This experience supported them to take the cox seat at the World Pilot Gig Championships in the Scilly Isles.
